About the MCRC

The McLean County Reentry Council was founded from lived experience and a shared belief that no one should have to navigate reentry alone. Founded in 2021, the McLean County Reentry Council solidified our Articles of Incorporation in February of 2023, submitting our Articles to the State of Illinois for recognition as a non-profit organization.

Since founding, the McLean County Reentry Council has diligently connected with local supportive resources, the McLean County Jail, Illinois DOC’s, as well as local officials to broaden understanding of the challenges formerly incarcerated people face, as well as bridge the gap in supporting successful community reentry.

Mission:

The Mission of the McLean County Reentry Council (MCRC) is to provide a coordinated community response to address reentry efforts and to reduce recidivism by bringing together justice-involved individuals, criminal justice officials, and health and human service providers to increase education, financial literacy, resources, and autonomy for justice-impacted individuals in McLean County, Illinois.

Vision:

To empower those returning from the prison system with resources and support through community partnerships, reducing recidivism and fostering a safer, more inclusive community.

Goals:

Connect. Advocate. Collaborate.

1. Connect justice-impacted individuals with resources, education, and support that promote successful reentry and long-term stability.
2. Reduce barriers and stigma by advocating for equitable opportunities and elevating the voices and experiences of justice-impacted individuals.
3. Strengthen community collaboration by coordinating with local organizations and complementing—not duplicating—existing services.
